Scafell

Height: 964m or 3162 feet

Grid ref: NY207065

Character: A rugged fell often overlooked in favour to its lofty neighbor Scafell Pike Englands Highest peak. A rocky fell with a flank of steep cliffs to one side and a grassy approach towards Burnmoor tarn.

WasdaleWeb's opinion: A great fell, and one to be enjoyed in its own right. If you intend to link to Scafell pike as well be prepared to loose a lot of height. Lords rake and the Westwall traverse provide great routes But look here for the most recent news. Lords Rake Rock fall

Approaches: From Wasdale the easiest approach is via the Burnmoor tarn path and up the grassy flanks to the summit, although this is often wet. The other approaches are via the brown tongue route and then to the summit via Lords Rake (see above) or up to and over Mickledore to the foxes tarn path which is a scramble to the summit
