The Screes Inn, Nether Wasdale

The Screes has built up a fine reputation locally for generous helpings of well-cooked food. The Chef, Johnny Hughes, was born locally and received his training in London. Being a vegetarian, much of his time was spent working in the well-known vegetarian restaurant Blah, Blah, Blah in Shepherds Bush. If you like vegetarian food, this is the place to eat. However, most of the local farmers prefer their roast beef, Cumberland sausage, local organic lamb, or ham. If fish is your preference, there are always two dishes to choose from.Food is served from 12.00 till 3.00pm and from 6.00pm till 9.00pm every day.
